DOPAL
HOW ITWORKS
Located in Aburi –Dumpong in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Dopal Natural Farm harmlessly integrates human activities into the natural environment in order to protect the climate, promote food security, promote biodiversity, sustain and produce safe and healthy food crops
The systematic way of growing crops on the farm allows the crops to support each other with nutrients, control pests and maximize use of space. This method of farming also helps to increase pollination, increase productivity and taste of crops, serve as a habitat for beneficial creatures, protect the climate, promote biodiversity, restore degraded soil, improve fertility of drought – prone land and improve water retention capacity of soil.
Guzakuza-Dopal as a farm project is augmenting efforts to achieve food security and attaining UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 1 (end poverty in all forms everywhere), SDG 2 (end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture), SDG 3 (good health and well-being) and SDG 13 (climate action).
Guzakuza-Dopal Farm for the last 3 years has been a hub for students from the Agriculture Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to be trained in growing crops without chemicals.
